Mega and AofD, thanks for the anime feedback. I say I'm not into it, but at the same time don't feel I am completely "justified" in that opinion to the extent that I really haven't seen that much.... I need to give it a more fair shot. I'll pick up a couple you recommeded and see how it goes.

    Cool - you should.

Just like anything, there are bad ones, and there are excellent ones!

They are a great alternative to normal movie making as what goes on can be more fantasical since the medium is drawn and not actors with Special Effects around them.

If we were closer, I'd send you some of mine to watch. You might want to try NetFlix or something like that for a couple of months to get a hold of them, but if you end up not likeing them, you can send them back.

i don't think the main stream rental places do a good job of stocking the Anime titles as well as they shouuld.

That is only fair of you to do so. There are some people out there too closed minded to try anything different. Animation, regardless of what it is or where it comes from, is a definative art form in and of itself, as well that many of the voice actors tend to work harder to make it seem real, seeing as it is animation, just like the animators try to give it a sense of balance, a sense of fluid motion, to make them seem more then just drawings, but as if you were watching real life actors instead. And the art is so superb most times, that you can pause the scene and it look so good that you could capture that picture and hang it on a wall.

I think Mega can agree, that many many times, one will feel as if the voice actors act better then some actors you've seen in movies! I still haven't seen Grave of the Fireflies, much to my dismay. I'm still trying to find the Devilman series on DVD, and scrounge up for Armitage. Sometimes there is also a difference between languages in the way things are protrayed and the voice acting.

Dragonball Z comes to mind. Alot of people feel that that animation show is too kiddy, too childish for their liking. But if you watch it the way it was made, the way it was intended in its original language (All be it subtitled) and soundtrack, you'll realize it was geared for more mature audiences in its native lands. Some companies tend to gear the more adult oriented ones to children. This is a good example. Now Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust and Princess Mononoke, amongst others, were specifically designed with English in mind, and are wonderful. Ones that are still geared towards audiences of a mature nature and substance, yet dubbed in English, would be the likes of NG Evangelion.

    I do agree totally!

Anime is an excellent art form, and is starting to get the recognition that it should have gotten a long time ago here in the US. Higher quality actors are voicing over the characters and putting their experience into the portrayal that makes it far better than dubbed Anime that was produced years ago.

Angulus - you really do need to see Grave of the Fireflies. It is one of the best Amine movies i have seen to date. It isn't a fantastical story by any means, and if you tried to do the same with human actors, it would lose the impact that it has! One definately to add to the collection
